Position Description
Employees in this position perform a wide variety of duties related to the care and supervision of program clients. Individuals in this position work under the supervision of counseling and/or nursing staff as members of a treatment team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides supervision of the daily activities of clients in residential programs.
- With appropriate supervision, records individual case information in client records.
- With appropriate supervision, provides non-clinical services to program clients such as alcohol/drug abuse education and other educational services.
- Participates in group counseling sessions with senior counseling staff or appropriate supervisory staff.
- Serves as a professional role model for program clients and assists them in learning age-appropriate daily living and problem solving skills.
- With appropriate training and following chain of custody regulations, employee will perform urinalysis of clients to ensure they are alcohol and drug free per TCHS policy.
- Required to meet and maintain TCHS Approved Driver Qualifications per policy number 100.0052 and transport TCHS person served in any agency vehicle
- Performs other reasonable and related duties as requested by supervisory or administrative staff.
Minimum Training and Experience
- Requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid Florida driver's license.
- Will work under the supervision of at least a bachelor’s level practitioner and will complete in-service training in the treatment of substance use disorders, patients’ rights, aggression control, HIV, infections control and other required trainings within 90-days of starting employment.
- The incumbent will be a member of the multidisciplinary team, provide therapeutic support as assigned and able to recognize the signs and symptoms associated with abuse and dependence. The substance abuse technician will be familiar with substance use rules and regulations, confidentiality, twelve step recovery concepts, clinical record documentation requirements and patient right. Must be able to respond to special circumstances such as emergencies, suicide and out-of-control behavior.
Shift Availability:
- 1st shift (7:00am to 3:00pm)
- 2nd shift (3:00pm to 11:00pm) (shift differential pay)
- 3rd shift (11:00pm to 7:00am) (shift differential pay)
