Phlebotomist

Department: Detox
Location: Bartow, FL

Position Description

Individual in this position is responsible for providing efficiently and accurately blood draws on the person served.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1.  Prepares patient before the blood draw.
  2. Explains the blood draws procedures to the person served and answers any questions about the process.
  3. Flowing all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas.
  4. Gathers all medical testing materials including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags centrifuge and test tubes.
  5. Verifies all patient information and labeling blood samples properly.
  6. Helps nervous or frightened person remain calm during the blood draw.
  7. Works with the supervisory physician or APRN and follows their directions at all times.
  8. Clean-up work after the blood draw. 
  9. Performs other reasonable and related duties as assigned.

Minimum Training and Experience

  • The incumbent must have completed an accredited phlebotomy program and received a certificate of completion. 
  • Previous experience of at least one (1) year in a clinical setting is required. 
  • Experience in entering data into an electronic health record is preferred.
